MARIE-CURIE FELLOWSHIP
We are seeking for candidates to apply for a Marie Curie Fellowship under the 2014 H2020 Marie Curie Actions program. Considering that this program promotes mobility and cooperation between European countries, applicants’ previous research activity shall be developed in an EU member state other than Spain. Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Biology, Neurosciences, Physiology or related sciences at the time of the proposal deadline (September 11th 2014) or have at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience, as specified in the call:
Marie Curie Individual Fellowships (MCSC-IF-2014-EF)
We are investigating Lowe Syndrome, a rare disease caused by mutations in a gene involved in phosphoinositide metabolism, OCRL (from Oculo CerebroRenal Lowe syndrome). We use in vitro models to characterize the function of OCRL in protein trafficking. The Instituto de Investigación Sanitaria Puerta de Hierro, is a Health System certified organization, committed to research and innovation in health care, and integrated in one of the most important clinical institutions in Madrid, the Hospital Puerta de Hierro de Majadahonda.
The aim of the present project is to dissect the molecular mechanisms of the neurophysiological alterations of Lowe syndrome and to test pharmacological compounds in in vivo models of the disease. The candidate will use state-of-the-art techniques, in particular electrophysiological recordings and live microscopy. Good communication skills and ability to work in a team are essential. Previous laboratory experience in our research area (neuroscience, molecular biology, imaging) would be highly appreciated but is not required. Good publication record is a must.
If you are interested, please send your CV, two references and a letter of interest before August 15th 2014 to contact investigator.
